Futures(Futures)

A contract to buy/sell a specific asset at a future date at a price set today; a standardised contract traded on an exchange.

Also written as: vadeli işlem

Index (ES, NQ), commodity (CL, GC), bond and currency futures trade on centralised exchanges (CME, Eurex); pricing is single and transparent, and counterparty risk is assumed by the clearing house.

Every contract has a contract size, a tick value and an expiry (for example ES: tick 0.25 points = 12.50 USD; March/June/September/December expiries). As expiry approaches, the position is "rolled over" into the next contract. For order flow analysis, genuine volume data exists only in futures.
