Mean reversion

A family of strategies built on the assumption that price snaps back once it stretches too far from an average (VWAP, a moving average, the value area); it works in ranging markets.

Mean reversion produces a high win rate and a low R:R, and carries the risk of consecutive losses once a trend starts. A regime filter (ADX, VIX, structure) is a must.

It is the exact opposite of momentum strategies; running the two in the same portfolio for different regimes is a balancing move.
