Bond yield
The annual rate of return derived from a government bond's price; the US 10-year yield is the reference point for the dollar, gold and tech stocks.
Yield and price move in opposite directions. Rising real yields (adjusted for inflation) put pressure on gold and support the dollar; growth stocks struggle when yields are high.
The gap between the 2-year and 10-year yields (the yield curve) is the classic recession indicator; an inversion (2y > 10y) has historically preceded recessions.
